The Lid Keeper app

Lid Keeper runs entirely on your Mac. The only time it contacts the internet is when you choose Check for Updates… yourself — it never checks on its own — and that request carries no personal data. It does not collect, transmit or store any personal data, usage data or diagnostics off your machine.

When you activate, the app stores an activation record on your Mac containing the email address you typed, your licence key and an opaque hash of your Mac's hardware identifier. That record never leaves your computer; it exists so the app can recognise its own licence. Session readings (temperature, fan speed, battery, duration) are shown to you and kept locally for diagnosis. Nothing is sent to us.

Lid Keeper never records audio. Its microphone handling only selects which existing input device is the system default while the lid is closed.

The website

lidkeeper.com is a static site served by Cloudflare. We do not set cookies and we do not use advertising or behavioural tracking. Cloudflare processes standard request data (such as your IP address and browser type) to serve the site and protect it from abuse, under Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Buying a licence

Payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe collects your payment details directly; we never see your full card number. Stripe shares with us your email address, the country of your payment method, the amount paid and a receipt reference.

We store, for each order: your email address, the order and payment references, the amount, the date, and the licence key we issued to you. We use this to deliver your licence key on the order page and by email, to answer support requests, to process refunds, and to keep the accounting records the law requires. Licence emails are sent through Resend.

We keep order records for as long as required for tax and accounting purposes, and to be able to re-send a lost licence key. We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not use it for marketing unless you ask us to.

Support

If you email support@lidkeeper.com, we keep the conversation so we can help you and refer back to it if you write again. Please don't send passwords or full card numbers.

Your rights

You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it — subject to the records we are legally required to keep. Write to support@lidkeeper.com from the email address you used to buy, and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

Lid Keeper and lidkeeper.com are not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date. Material changes will be noted on this page.
