Terms of sale and software licence
Last updated 12 September 2026
In plain words: you buy one licence, you may use it on the Macs you own, you may not share or resell the key, updates are free, and you have 30 days to change your mind. Keeping a Mac awake with the lid closed is your decision — use a hard, ventilated surface.
1. Who you're dealing with
Lid Keeper (the "Software") is developed and sold by JTTTSOLUTIONS INC — legally JTTTsolutions, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"). These terms apply to your purchase from lidkeeper.com and to your use of the Software. By buying or installing the Software you agree to them.
2. What you get
On payment we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use the Software on Macs that you own or control, for your own use. The licence is delivered as a licence key on the order page and by email. Keep it; it is your proof of purchase.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, publish or otherwise share your licence key, redistribute the Software, or circumvent its licence checks. You may not reverse-engineer or decompile the Software except to the extent the law expressly allows. All rights not granted here are reserved by us.
3. Price and payment
The Software costs the price shown at checkout, currently US$2.99, as a one-time payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. Taxes may be added at checkout depending on where you are. There is no subscription and no recurring charge.
4. Updates
Updates to the Software are free for the life of the product. We may add, change or remove features in updates; we will not remove the core keep-awake function from a version you have paid for. We are not obliged to keep supporting versions of macOS that Apple no longer supports.
5. Refunds
You may request a full refund within 30 days of purchase for any reason by emailing support@lidkeeper.com from the address used to buy. When a refund is issued your licence terminates and you must uninstall the Software. See our refund policy.
6. Safety — please read this one
The Software keeps a MacBook awake with the lid closed, which is not a configuration Apple supports outside its documented closed-display setup. The Software is designed to return the Mac to normal sleep under thermal, battery and software fault conditions, and it never takes control of fan speed away from macOS. Even so, no software can make a laptop safe when its ventilation is blocked, when it is in a bag, on bedding or soft furnishings, in a hot environment, or when its hardware is damaged.
You are responsible for using the Software sensibly: keep the Mac on a hard, ventilated surface while the lid is closed, and stop using it if the Mac shows any sign of abnormal heat, swelling, smell or damage. You accept that you use the Software at your own risk.
7. Requirements
The Software requires a MacBook, MacBook Air or MacBook Pro running macOS 13 or later with working lid, power and thermal telemetry, and an administrator account for installation. Some managed or unusual configurations may prevent installation or engagement; if the Software cannot verify its safety requirements it will refuse to engage, and you may request a refund under section 5.
8. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Software is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Software will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will work with every Mac or every future version of macOS.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits or hardware, arising out of or related to the Software or these terms, however caused. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Software or your purchase is limited to the amount you paid for it. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations; in those places our liability is limited to the smallest extent the law allows.
10. Third parties
Payments are handled by Stripe under its own terms. Apple, Mac, MacBook and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Lid Keeper is independent software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Apple.
11. Termination
Your licence ends if you materially breach these terms, or on refund. On termination you must stop using and uninstall the Software. Sections 6, 8, 9 and 12 survive termination.
12. General
These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Software. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and nothing in them limits any rights you have as a consumer under the law of the place where you live.
